Music
Music Statement of Intent
At Kingsway Primary Academy, we build on the musical horizons of each child and we strongly believe that children should be given the opportunity to share their musical skills at different events both in and outside school. After school clubs and events extend these opportunities further. Pupils have opportunities to share their learning with each other, their parents and carers and other learners through performances and events with other schools.
We ensure that our music curriculum engages and inspires pupils to develop a love of music as well as increase their self-confidence, creativity and sense of achievement. It is our aim that all pupils perform, listen to, review and evaluate music across historical periods, genres, styles and traditions. All children will have the chance to learn to sing and use their voices to create and compose music. Children will also have the opportunity to learn a variety of musical instruments throughout their time at our school. Lessons at Kingsway Primary Academy incorporate listening and appraising, creating and exploring and singing and performing. Throughout this the children will also explore the musical elements: pulse, duration, tempo, pitch, dynamics, structure, timbre, texture and style.
