PSHE

PSHE Statement of Intent

At Kingsway Primary Academy, we encourage our pupils to play an active and positive role in contributing to the life of the school and its wider community. Through doing this, we help develop children’s independence, responsibility and help create a strong sense of self-worth.

Through the PSHE curriculum, the pupils of Kingsway Primary Academy are provided with opportunities to enhance their spiritual, moral, social and cultural development through: cooperation, communication, evaluation, reflection, decision making and managing their emotions. The children learn about their human rights (through UNICEF’s ‘Children’s Rights’ articles) and engage with issues of diversity, identity and equality through exploration of similarities and differences between people and their experiences, and the discussion of social and moral dilemmas.

At Kingsway Primary Academy, we believe the role of PSHE is significant to individual pupil motivation and achievement; it teaches children to know and understand what constitutes a healthy lifestyle; be confident, independent and responsible members of the school community; and to develop good relationships with other members of the school and the wider community.
